Let There Be Light

Another great achievement for myself, thanks to Kelab Shashin - my photography club, who have a wonderful home at KLPAC.

"KLPAC and Kelab Shashin Fotografi Kuala Lumpur will be presenting a photography exhibition entitled Let There Be Light from 1 September to 3 October 2010.

Let There Be Light will feature 46 different photographs based on one single theme - light (or the absence of light for some). It draws from the collection of 14 photographers of the close-knit club who come from all walks of life and different photography backgrounds. This won...derful melting pot of cultures, photography styles and interests is evident in the upcoming exhibition.

The photographs showcased ranges from those that play with natural lighting to those taken with artificial lighting, performance photographs to abstract images, portraits to landscape and so on. It is a unique peek into the photographers' lives and their respective journey through the photography world.

Super GT2010 at Sepang SIC

Is Japan GT again! I still remember the very first time when i went for Japan GT in Malaysia. That was the very first publicity race organize by GTA to promote Japan GT in Malaysia. Wow... I can't hardly remember when was it. This year is the 10th Japan GT race held in Malaysia, and this will be the final year that Sepang SIC take charge to promote Japan GT. What happen next? I really don't know....

I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement again, thank to my friend =). I got myself a media pass that allowed me to run around the track and capture some great shots. I went there 3 days back to back, and i can tell you that weather is superb! Is HOT and I'm tanned! =)...... But, I got a chance to brush up my skills again and pick up something new in photography.

The great thing is, there are few supporting races during the 3days event. First was the VW Scirocco Cup, followed by GT3, Toyota Yaris / Vios, and lastly GT4. It just fantastic! I have plenty of time to experience each corner and attempt to achieve the result which i want. For my gear, beside the 17-35mm, 24-70mm. I also got myself a 2x teleconverter to couple with 70-200mm F2.8 zoom lens, so you can imagine what focal length I can achieve =). OK! Let see the photos....

Pentax ist*D - is when i started to earn

After being boombastic by my followers complaining about my outdated blog. Ok, lets do something outdated today. Sharing my second DSLR which bring me tonnes of trill and excitement when I step in the world of photography. It almost 5 years back when i got my hand on this camera, the Penatx *istD with 6.1M pixel......Yup, read my lips is 6.1. I'm fortunate enough to own this Camera as i know there are many better cameras around. Well, who cares as i got this unit for only RM3.5k that time.

At that time i would say this is the smallest DSLR available in the market, even with the vertical grip attached, it still out run other cameras in terms of size. It was a great experience evertime i carry this baby around, people will just stare at this baby and wondering how this baby perform. I can tell you, the result is stunning and the colour is superb! I have very limited budget to own some great lenses, and my very first lens was the Pentax-FA* 28-70mm F2.8 (know as Star lens). This lens travel all the way from Japan to Malaysia with the cost of RM4.5k used unit. It's sharp, bright, heavy, and with a big hood attached...... I love it, as it's just so sexy when you look at it.

Of course, to me one lens is not enough and this is how i own my another lens. This time is Sigma EX 70-200mm F2.8, it's a used unit. I think I'm the third owner of this bazooooka......It was first owned by mentor, Allan then down to my club member, Meng. The lens look old and used to me, but who cares? As it just cost me RM1k together with the Lowepro lens case. I make my first income in photography with this baby, and soon follow by other jobs. I've tried to send this lens for repair due to the wear, but some how i was told it not worth to do it.

Anyone into manual focus lenses? Here is one, Pentax-A 50mm F1.7. It's a smooth and solid manual focusing lens which cost me only RM250. It was a great fun using this, especially each time I dial the lens to the desire focusing sharpeness. It just so smoooooooottttthhhhhh.....!

This sets of gears serve me well and it last me couple of years until I have to say goodbye to these ladies. I'm upgrading due to my job requirement, i need a faster camera that help me to complete my task easily and increase the quality of the shots. I miss you all ladies, you all make me realize how wonderful and beautiful is the world each time i look thru the view finder. I found my passion......Photography =)

*Something unforgetable - I burned my flash when I shoot during KLIB (Kuala Lumpur International Batik week), due to non-stop action even using manual shooting at all time..... I guess I really click alot =p

I'm Posi+tive - Life Sdn Bhd 5

Since I'm with Shashin Photography club, I was given an opportunity by KLPAC to cover this show. It's about people who are HIV positive, but they never fear. They willing to share with us their experience and giving out their helping hand to those people who lost their way when they discovered themself infected by HIV. I'm just proud of them, rather then keep blamming waiting for the days, but they continue live their life to the fullest...To all of the participants who make the show success, please accept my greatest respect - I salute you!

1880 Eighteen Eighty Fashion Boutique

During the month of May, I was given an opportunity to cover the the Fashion show for 1880 Eighteen Eighty boutique in conjunction with Fashion On 1 2009 Event. 1880 Eighteen Eighty is located at 1 Utama new wing and Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. I was there early morning to shoot for other fashion outlet, as my purpose is to get the correct setting especially on the colour balance. Hope my hard work pay off this time =)...

Latest update, those photos taken during the show will be use as 1880 Eighteen Eighty floor standing poster, wall poster, and also a huge advertisement located at Sunway Pyramid shopping mall car park. Stay tuned for the advertisement layout by my sister - Joey Yap =P

Zero to Sexy by Triumph

Triumph launched their new lingerie series called Zero to Sexy during the Fashion On 1 event at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. I miss this show last year, so this time I make sure I'll be there on time to capture some hot and sexy shots.....Oooooo!

I found that it is a bit tricky this time on the lighting as the display panels located at the end of the runway are very bright so it tend to wash out the colours of the models. I'm not using any flash to fill up the subject, but the results are OK to me. One thing for sure, my new gears are performing more then what I'm expected and I'm dammm happy with it =).

All the shots I shown here only undergo very minimum editing, so what you see is what I see through the view finder. Arrrggghhhh...my left elbow are numb after the show, must be my old injuries again. Need some attention before it get worst. I have to agree that the new gears are definitely heavier then my old system, but this is the price i have to pay for my passion... haha ;)
